Mother arrested in connection with infant’s death

SHIPSHEWANA, Ind. (WNDU/Gray News) - As police continue to investigate the death of a baby, the infant’s mother has been arrested.

Indiana State Police detectives reported they were called to a home in Shipshewana on April 6 to investigate the death of an infant.

Months later, investigators charged 24-year-old Chantel Cunningham with murder and neglect of a dependent, causing death.

Officials had not released the infant’s cause of death, but noted the investigation was ongoing.
