Community open mic night hosted by Brooke Road Community Center

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Creatives from across the Rockford area gather to showcase their talents at the South Side Stories & Music Sharing event.

On Saturday, Brooke Road Community Center welcomed musicians, poets and artists of all kinds to preform at open mic night.

“Community is something that some of us have lost over the years,” Brooke Road Community Center Manager, Kristin Cottrell said in a press release. “Having this safe and central space to come together and be with people who understand the importance of culture, togetherness and arts will allow you to leave feeling uplifted and maybe even inspired.”

Event participation is not required. Guests are encouraged to listen, experience and take part in collective conversation.
